Competition has started!

We have just come back from the opening ceromony where all the teams parade around in uniform and the local dignitaries give us speaches and the competition is declared open.
This afternoon we start preceedings with 2 powered precision landings where we are scored for touchdown accuracy.  But to make things slightly harder we have to fly the circuit in exactly 4 mins (takeoff to landing).  We have a two second tolerence to get max points after which we loose points.  Then tomorrow we have an engine off spot landing and a soaring task.

Still wet in Czech!

Morning all
The weather here is not all that good to say the least....  It has now been raining on and off for three days, we were going to get up early this morning and go flying but yet again it is rather damp!
Yesterday was spent re-calibrating the fuel tank and checking the fuel computer is working accurately - it is!  We have been constantly practicing deck landings in all conditions, it makes a huge difference doing one with lots of wind and then one in the evening in still weather.  As the day went on my landings got worse and less accurate....

Day 2

Hi Guys,
Well, yesterday after finishing setting up camp it was our first day of practice.  Andy and myself went for a little fly around the local area just to get an idea of the lie of the land.  Then we practiced lots of powered precision landings and spot landings.  We are quite high here, 1861 feet, so the takeoff performance is not great, but i think we will still takeoff in the 100m box.

We have Arrived safely in Czech

Hi Guys,
Hope you are all ok back home and doing some flying?

Just to let you know that we all arrived safely yesterday evening after a really nice flight.  We left friday afternoon and flew direct to Abbeville (on the somme) where we spent the night.  Then we flew due east across France and into Germany - ran into a really big thunderstorm on the german boarder which we had to divert around - lots of lightening!  Then flew across germany yesterday and to our airfield, Jihlava, in Czech.

Merry Christmas

Dear All
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and new year.  I would also like to thank everyone who has helped me to make this year so successful. We have had many new pilots passing their GST's and many new solo pilots.  For me it has been the best flying year ever with 800 flying hours and many memorable trips.

Back from Poland

I am now back from Poland, we left on Monday and it took 2 days/16 hours to get home.  We had great fun whilst away and even managed to win another gold medal!  Pics of me and Chris below.

Practice week

Evening all - We all made it out to Poland safely.  It took me a little over ten hous to fly here.  The airfield at Leszno is a huge open field which is great and the facilities are good too - which makes a change from some comps.

Today we flew the official practice task which is designed to test all the organisation side of things as well as giving us a proper practice.  I think we did ok so will await the scores.  So it is now nearly ten o clock here so a cold beer calls
